How We Work With Insurance

Mental Health Counseling Group operates on a private-pay basis, meaning all fees are paid directly to our practice at the time of your session. We do not bill insurance companies directly.

However, we make it easy to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider:

Superbills Provided

After each session, we provide a detailed receipt called a superbill. This document contains all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network reimbursement claim, including:

- Provider credentials and license number

- Diagnosis codes (CPT codes)

- Date and duration of service

- Fees charged

How to Check Your Out-of-Network Benefits

Before your first appointment, we recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking:

1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

2. What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much has been met?

3. What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed after the deductible?

4. Is there a limit on the number of sessions covered per year?

5. Do I need prior authorization for outpatient mental health services?

Many clients are pleasantly surprised to learn that their out-of-network benefits cover a significant portion of therapy costs.

Reimbursement rates and eligibility vary by insurance plan.

We cannot guarantee that your provider will cover our services.

If your insurance has specific requirements for reimbursement, such as particular licensing credentials or diagnostic criteria, please inform your counselor during your initial consultation so we can ensure all necessary documentation is provided.

Why Private Pay?

Many clients wonder why we've chosen a private-pay model. Here are the key benefits:

Privacy

Your therapy records stay between you and your counselor. Insurance companies often require a mental health diagnosis on file, which becomes part of your permanent medical record.

No session limits

Insurance companies frequently cap the number of sessions or require re-authorization. Private pay means your treatment plan is determined by you and your therapist, not an insurance reviewer.

Full clinical freedom

Your counselor can use the therapeutic approaches that work best for you without restrictions from insurance protocols.

No waitlists

We can often schedule new clients more quickly than insurance-paneled practices.

Payment Information

Accepted payment methods

Credit card, debit card, HSA/FSA cards

Payment is due at the time of each session
