What is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. According to the American Psychological Association, CBT is one of the most extensively researched forms of psychotherapy, with hundreds of clinical trials demonstrating its effectiveness. At Mental Health Counseling Group, our licensed therapists use CBT alongside other proven approaches like EMDR and mindfulness to create personalized treatment plans for each client.
What is EMDR therapy and how does it work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy technique developed in 1987 that helps people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. During EMDR sessions, a therapist guides the client through bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements) while processing traumatic memories, which helps the brain reprocess these experiences in a less distressing way. The World Health Organization and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs both recognize EMDR as an effective treatment for PTSD. Mental Health Counseling Group offers EMDR therapy at all four Texas locations.
How much does therapy cost at Mental Health Counseling Group?
Therapy sessions at Mental Health Counseling Group cost between $130 and $180 per 50-minute session, depending on your counselor and location. The practice operates on a private-pay basis and does not bill insurance companies directly. However, detailed receipts (called superbills) are provided so you can submit them to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Complimentary consultations are available at all four locations.
