About Mental Health Counseling Group

Mental Health Counseling Group was founded in 2022 by Sara Veillon, M.S., LPC, NCC, a licensed trauma-focused therapist and longtime Katy, TX resident. What began as a single-location practice in Katy has grown into a multi-location group practice serving clients across Katy, Sugar Land, Fulshear, and Austin, TX, as well as statewide via telehealth.

We started Mental Health Counseling Group because finding the right counselor shouldn't be harder than the problem that brought you in. Every person who reaches out is carrying something specific, whether it's a marriage under strain, a child who's struggling, a trauma that won't loosen its grip, or simply a life that feels heavier than it should. Our job is to match you with a counselor near you who specializes in exactly that, not just whoever has the next open slot.

That belief is why we've grown one office at a time, in Katy, Sugar Land, Fulshear, and Austin, rather than scaling for its own sake. Each location is led by its own founding counselor, who is personally invested in the community that office serves.

Our founder, Sara Veillon, is a trauma-focused, EMDR-trained therapist who works with couples, families, and individuals, and who believes that helping one family member is a good start, but working with the whole family unit is where real transformation takes shape. That same philosophy, of treating the person or family in front of us rather than a diagnosis in isolation, guides every office we've opened since.

Our therapists are licensed or supervised professionals holding credentials including Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), LPC-Associate, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and specialized certifications in EMDR, play therapy, and family systems work. All associates are supervised by fully licensed clinicians in compliance with Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council requirements for the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.

We practice evidence-based therapy, drawing on EMDR, CBT, Gottman Method, IMAGO, EFT, Play Therapy. We serve individuals ages 5 and up, couples, families, and adolescents across a range of concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges.

Care is available in person at our Katy, Sugar Land and Fulshear offices, and by secure telehealth anywhere in Texas, at the same rates and with the same counselors. Many clients mix both formats depending on their week.

Beyond one-on-one sessions, we curate resources for continued support between appointments and back the community programs that share our mission.
