Grief counseling, also called grief therapy or bereavement counseling, is support after a loss: the loss of a loved one, such as a spouse, a parent, a child or a close friend, or of a relationship or a career that shaped who you are. We offer it in person at our Katy office, 5502 4th Street, Katy, TX 77493, or by secure video anywhere in Texas for adults and teens.
Grief is not a disorder. It is a natural response to loss, and there is no right timeline for it. It may be time to talk to someone when grief is making daily life hard to manage, when you feel stuck or numb, when guilt will not ease, or when relationships with the people close to you are under strain. You do not need to wait until grief becomes clinical to ask for support.
Grief counseling is not about getting over your loss. It is about learning to carry it: a supportive space to process what has happened, find ways of coping with difficult moments and anniversaries, and gradually rebuild a meaningful life.
Every counselor offers a free 15-minute consultation call first, so you can ask questions and get a sense of fit before your first session. Grief counseling is individual counseling, and individual sessions here are $130 to $175 with our licensed counselors, or $80 with Paige Siemers, a graduate intern, depending on the counselor. We provide a superbill on request for out-of-network insurance reimbursement.
If you are in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911. Please do that first, and reach out to us afterward.
